City Research Scientist III / Health and Safety Officer, Administrative Office

The City Research Scientist III / Health and Safety Officer will assume the responsibility as the Office of Safety & Health’s primary Incident Command System (ICS) Coordinator for the agency.  As part of the duties, the selected applicant will respond to emergency situations by providing guidance, written procedures for staff (including other city agencies as needed) and other material and information needed for the specific situation response.  Additionally, the Health and Safety Officer will also provide non-emergency, day-to-day safety and health program support, assessments, training, and subject matter expertise.  

Minimum Qual Requirements 

1. A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and one year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization; or 

2. A master’s degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and three years of responsible full-time research experience in the appropriate field of specialization.
